Florida State Hospital Volunteer Services
About Us
Volunteer Services coordinates with individuals, churches, schools and universities, civic and social groups to provide volunteer and mentor opportunities for volunteers, interns, and staff.
The department partners with the community to provide support for Hospital and community activities.
The department is responsible for hosting several charity drives including: Food Drive, School Supply Drive, Toy Drive etc. for the community. Volunteer Services hosts many annual events including: Staff Day, Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, Christmas and Holiday Activities, and Take a Child to Work Day. The department organizes Pet Therapy groups for the residents in each Unit on a monthly basis.
Volunteer Services also operates the Resident Clothing Store which runs solely off of donated clothing. Clothing donations can be dropped off to the Volunteer Services Department in the Chapel Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Residents enjoy their shopping experience choosing their own clothing that fits their particular style.
Florida State Hospital Employee Charitable Campaign
The department organizes FSECC each year. The Florida State Employees’ Charitable Campaign (FSECC) is the only state sanctioned charity drive among state employees in the workplace. The campaign provides employees an opportunity to contribute to the charity of their choice through payroll deduction and fund-raising events. Florida State Hospital has participated in the FSECC since 1994 and has been a strong leader in the campaign. Annual fundraising has totaled anywhere from $53,000 to $130,000 over the last few years. Hospital employees have proven to be dedicated to donating to charity and improving the lives of others. Because of the magnitude of the campaign, the Hospital has developed a systematic approach to organize and facilitate it. Volunteer Services oversees the campaign each year.
